Women's call for March 8: We are in rebellion against crisis and violence 2020-02-17 19:07:52 ISTANBUL - March 8 Women's Platform called for participation in the Women's Meeting to be held in Kadıköy on International Women's Day. The 8 March Women's Platform, organized by various women's organizations, held a press conference at the Human Rights Association (İHD) İstanbul Branch with the slogan "We get together on 8 March". On behalf of the platform, Sevda Erkılınç read the statement titled as “We are in rebellion all over the World against crisis and violence”. 'PERPETRATORS ARE IMPUNITIED WITH PENALTY DISCOUNTS' Emphasizing that the state does not apply the requirements of the laws and agreement protecting women such as the law no. 6284 and İstanbul Agreement Erkılınç stated, “While women are most often killed by their relatives domestically, government still keeps on implying family policies that keeps women trapped in their houses. Instead of giving the account of what has been done in Ensar Foundation, while the children becomes the buject of the the sexual abuse, the government opens the discussions regarding repetance law for sexual abuse.  While women are killed because they want to divorce, so-called victim men try to usurp women's right of alimony. The government, which legitimizes sexual abuse and violence against women through religious fatwas, attempts to determine women's lives with religious norms. The tale of the "holy family" is used to cover not only violence, but also the exploitation of our domestic labor. While the economic crisis created by capitalism is returns to women as violence, we are sentenced to poverty with wages that we are not properly paid. 'WE WILL CALL AKP TO ACCOUNT' Reporting how the rulers threaten the lives of women as well as make the women fragile to harrassment, rape and exploitation of labor with the hand of the wars in Middle East Erkılınç continued women's statements as follos: “Women who rises any voice to all are tried to be stopped by police violence in the streets, and women's associations, which are struggling in this field arebeing locked down. So, we have an account to ask all those, who those who justify the murders of women, those who fight against the lives of women and children, those who create the crisis that condemns us to poverty and unemployment; we have an account to ask to male domination, to the capitalism and to the AKP." 'CALL FOR MARCH 8' Indicating that this system, which murders, exploits and tries to silence women can only be destroyed the by the organized power of women, Erkılınç finished the statement as follows: "Now, we call with the power of the woman solidarity which rises all around the world, from Chile to Iran, From Argentine to Lebanon, from Rojava to Spain; We are in rebellion all over the world with the power we get from woman solidarity against crisis and violence. We invite all the women to raise our struggle to Kadıköy Women Meeting on March 8, Sunday."
