Empty bullets casing in ward garden in Rize Prison 2020-02-17 10:31:22 ADANA - Murat Şimşek, who is imprisoned in Rize Kalkandere L-Type Prison, stated that political prisoners were held in the same wards of ordinary prisoners and that the prisoners are threatened with empty bullet casings thrown in the ward garden. Murat Şimşek, a prisoner in Rize Kalkandere L-Type Closed Prison, mentioned the violations of rights in prison via his weekly telephone call with his family. Şimşek stated that political prisoners held in the wards of ordinary prisoners are exposed to psychological pressure, death threats and insults.   'EMPTY BULLET CASINGS ARE THROWN INSIDE THE GARDEN'   Stating that he has been in the prison for 5 years, Şimşek said that the prison administration has put into practice "mix-peace" application since January. Pointing out that the violations of rights increased every day, Şimşek said, "All political prisoners were taken to the ordinary crimes department in the prison. We are protesting this. Our wards are being raided and we are beatun up every day. They are throwing empty bullet casings in our ward gardens. As we protest these applications, we face threats of forced transportations to other prisons, ban on visit and single isolation cells."   Şimşek, who demands human rights organizations and the public opinion not to remain silent regarding these practices expressed his demands as follows: "We demand one-on-one interviews with the Parliamentary Human Rights Monitoring Commission or MPs as soon as possible, There have been dozens of violations in this prison."    Reacting to the situation, Şimşek's mother Bedia Şimşek stated that they are concerned about the lives of the prisoners due to the practices of the prison. Mother Şimşek asked for the violation of rights to stop.   Prison officials, whom we would like to discuss about the statements of prisoner Şimşek, told that they could not provide information on the subject.   MA/ Hamdullah Kesen
