Scandalous reasoning on Evrensel's press agency ad ban 2020-01-16 14:08:43 İSTANBUL - The Press Ad Agency rejected Evrensel’s appeal against the ban on advertising in the newspaper. The refusal decision cited the fact that a reader buying 2 newspapers, which led to suspicion that newspaper readers were being followed.   The Press Ad Agency rejected Evrensel’s appeal against the ban on advertising in the newspaper. BİK deemed EVrensel readers buying more than one newspaper a crime.   BİK visited newsstands in Adana, Ankara, Diyarbakır, İstanbul, İzmir and Kocaeli on November 28, 2019 and stated that they determined that Evrensel readers are buying more than one newspaper.   Bik stated on November 28, in Diyarbakır, that a citizen buying 5 newspapers from Nevzat Aydın Newsstand and brought them to the prison is also a crime . The institution did not reveal how they came by the information of the newspapers being brought to the prison in their report.   The fact that 8 newspapers were bought by one person in İzmir on November 28 from Meydan Market and 3 newspapers bought by one person from Has- Er market was considered to be the reason of the penalty to Evrensel.   The attorney of the newspaper Devrim Avcı, speaking to Evrensel, said: "They say  people are buying newspapers and bring them to the prisons. Are you following the readers? How do you know what they do with the newspapers they bought? Are you carrying out physical surveillance on Evrensel readers? They are trying to punish the newspapers through its readers. We will take legal action about this."
