Prison administration labels paintings as 'obscene' 2019-12-14 09:50:18 MERSİN – The paintings, painter Aynur Epli made in İzmir Aliağa No 1 Women's Prison meant to send to her cancer patient cousin Fatma Özbay in Erzurum Type E Prison were labelled as 'obscene' by the administration and returned to sender. Epli told about what happened to Adil Okay from 'Görülmüştür' team.   Epli who have been imprisoned for 25 years, stating that her letters are not being delivered, said: "I sent my paintings to my cancer patient cousin who is currently being held in Erzurum Type E Prison. This is how I can support her from that far and under captivity. Unfortunately the prison administration did not give the paintings to her saying that they are 'obscene'. Even my letters doesn't reach her. This is how the state polict reflects to us personally. Our most humane correspondance is being prevented. There is no ethical or legal aspect to this."   'THIS IS INHUMANE'   Epli said: "There are approaches that push the limits of meaning. You know my cousin Fatma Özbay is suffering from severe cancer. She is being kept in isolation. Her right to visitation is being limited. This is inhumane. Her sister is here in the same prison with me. We requested her to be transferred here time and time again. No one cared. We are waiting for the other shoe to drop. At least this I know, I will keep sending her my paintings."
