'47 thousand 835 people committed suicide during AKP administration' 2019-11-19 14:25:58 ANKARA - ATO President Prof. Vedat Bulut who spoke at a press conference regarding the suicide cases, said 47 thousand 835 people committed suicide during the AKP administration and said: "The problem is the economy policies of the government that condemn you to unemployement and poverty." Turkey's Revolutionary Workers Unions Confederation (DISK) Ankara Representative, Confederation of Public Workers' Unions (KESK) Ankara Branches Platform, Turkish Engineers and Architects Association (TMMOB) Ankara Provincial Coordination Committee, Ankara Medical Chamber (ATO), Ankara Public Accountants and Financial Advisors Room (ASMMMO) held a joint press conference on recent suicides at the Mülkiyeliler Union Foundation.     Joint statement made by the President of ATO. Dr. Vedat Bulut said that there was a deep economic crisis stemming from the policies pursued by the AKP government for 17 years and said: "As a result of the economic policies implemented by the government, the increasing unemployment, poverty and heavy debt burden today take away the hope of many of our citizens and lead them to end their lives due to a shortage of livelihoods."     47 THOUSAND 835 PEOPLE COMMITTED SUICIDE      Bulut stating that 47 thousand 835 people committed suicide in the last 16 years, during the AKP administration, said that 8 people commits suicide per day.      Bulut, describing the mass suicides seen a lot lately as 'Social Homicide' stated that this issue is a product of the economic crisis that is being covered up.      29 PEOPLE COMMITTED SUICIDE INSIDE THE PARLIAMENT CAMPUS   Bulut stating that the government is trying to cover up the issues, said the parliamentary investigation about suicides inside the parliament campus was rejected by AKP and MHP votes. Bulut stated that 29 people committed suicide inside the parliament campus since 2010.   Bulut underlining the fact that the individuals are not the reason of poverty, said: "The problem is the economy policies of the government that condemn you to unemployement and poverty and the capitalism itself. Our citizens who lost hope due to economic reasons should raise their voices against unemployment, poverty and exploitation of labour.We are calling on to all of our people to struggle together for a humane life."
