MKGP: Ruken Demir and Melike Aydın have fulfilled the requirements of their profession 2019-11-16 11:44:24 DİYARBAKIR - Mesopotamia Women Journalists Platform demanded the release of Mesopotamia Agency (MA) reporter Ruken Demir and JİN NEWS reporter Melike Aydın stating that they have fulfilled the requirements of their profession.  Mesopotamia Women Journalists Platform (MGKP) made a written statement regarding the arrest of Mesopotamia Agency (MA) reporter Ruken Demir and JIN NEWS reporter who were detained on 12 November within the scope of an investigation carried out by İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.   According to the statement, the members were arrested for their journalistic activities and telephone conversations carried out on this basis of their profession. The statement said: "There is no legal aspect of these arrests, which are a continuation of the witch hunt that was started recently against women in particular. The newly introduced laws on making and recieving news, the freedom of thought and expression proves to be just on paper with these arrests."   In the statement the call to overturn this unlawfulness is made, 'Our journalist friends Melike and Ruken must be released. Journalism is not a crime. Our friends have  fulfilled the requirements of their profession."
