Journalists Ruken Demir and Melike Aydın arrested 2019-11-16 10:24:04   İZMİR - Our reporter Ruken Demir and JİN NEWS reporter Melike Aydın who were taken under custody on November 12 in İzmir, were arrested by the court with the accusation of 'conducting activities on behalf of the organization'.    Mesopotamia Agency (MA) reporter Ruken Demir and JİN NEWS reporter Melike Aydın who were taken under custody in scope of an investigation initiated by İzmir Chief Public Prosecutor's Office with a raid to their home were arrested by the court with the accusation of 'conducting activities on behalf of the organization'.    Demir and Aydın, who were accused of 'conducting activities on behalf of the organization' in the prosecutor's interrogations, were referred to the 1st Penal Court of Peace, demanding arrest even though they stated that their activities were within the scope of journalism. The court ordered the arrest of both female journalists at the request of the prosecutor's office in the morning.   The arrested journalists were placed in Izmir Aliaga Sakran Women's Closed Prison.   While TUHAY-DER member Selma Altan, Mazlum Koç, Ramazan Yavuz, Sait Bahadır, Murat Tufan, İsmail Akbay, Şeyhmus Dağhan, Hasan Hayri Dikilitaş and Hediye Tekin were arrested withing the scope of the same investigation, Mehmet Gergin were released with a traveling ban.
