Roussopoulos: Social revolution in Rojava sought to be destroyed

	İSTANBUL - International Social Ecology Institute Co- Founder Dimitri Roussopoulos, stating that It is Öcalan's thoughts that are being targeted with these attacks against North and East Syria, said: "Their aim is to put an end to the social revolution in Rojava. This poses a great threat to them."

	 

	A committe of 11 people including Attorney of former South Africa State President Nelson Mandela, and the Co- Founder of International Social Ecology Institute Dimitri Roussopoulos requested a visit to PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan in 2016. However, this request was rejected by the Ministry of Justice. Roussopoulos, recalling that they wanted to see Öcalan that day, but this was rejected, spoke about the attack against North and East Syria. 

	 

	Roussopoulos stating that it is actually the democratic society Öcalan wanted to create that's being targeted by these attacks against North and East Syria, said: "There is no such system in Rojava that you vote for someone and rely on the fact that they'll be gone in 4 years. There is a system in which direct democracy operates. In this system, which is based on assemblies, people have a face-to-face discussion. All of these were brought to life in Rojava with the Öcalan philosophy. That's why everyone is attacking Rojava today and trying to destroy it. Their aim is to end the social revolution in Rojava. Because it poses a great threat to them."
