Grandmother of sick prisoner Aktaş: I can't take it anymore 2019-08-14 09:55:35 İSTANBUL - Emine Aktaş (70), grandmother of sick prisoner Engin Aktaş who doesn't have his both hands and can't meet his basic needs, said: "I can't take it anymore. Release my grandson."   Sick prisoner Ergin Aktaş was taken under custody in Ağrı, Doğu Beyazıt in 2011 and was admitted do a hospital for a short period of time. Aktaş who was being treated in the hospital was arrested and sentenced to life in prison. Aktaş who doesn't have both of his hands is on the list of Humans' Rights Association (İHD) sick prisoner list. Aktaş who was transferred from prison to prison and has a medical report stating that he can not stay in prison, was taken to Metris Prison for a 5th report.    Emine Aktaş reacting to the fact that her grandson is not being released despite his medical reports, stating that her grandson is not able to meet his basic needs, demanded his release.    'WHAT KIND OF PENAL CODE IS THIS?'     70 year old Aktaş who states that her grandson is being subjected to inhumane practices, stated that her grandson started a hunger strike to make change his prison conditions. Aktaş, stating that her grandson doesn't have his hands, said: "I am very worried and upset about Engin. He can bareley meet his basic needs. What kind of a penal code is this? what sort of correction is this? This is unacceptable. How can a person who doesn't have hands, can survive in prison? He is behind bars for 9 years now. He is coughing blood."     Aktaş who stated that her grandson is not being released despite his 4 medical reports stating he should be released, said: "End this torture. I can't take it anymore!"
