Only 21 of the 221 prisoners were taken to hospital 2019-05-27 14:58:41   DİYARBAKIR - After the hunger strikes and the death fasts were called of yesterday, 5 prisoners on death fast and 21 prisoners on hunger strike were taken to hospital from Diyarbakır Type D Prison. The total number of hunger strikers in Diyarbakır Prison was 221. The remaining 195 prisoners are still being kept waiting for treatment. Also in Batman, none of the hunger striking prisoners were referred to hospital yet.     The hunger strike and death fasting actions of the 3,000 detainees against the isolationist policies of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan ended with the message of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan being shared with the public.      Following the end of the actions yesterday in Diyarbakir D Type Closed Prison 5 prisoners on death fast was referred to hospital while only 21 of the 221 prisoners were taken to Gazi Yaşargil Education and Reseach Hospital.     It was learned that a special section was established on the 10th floor of the hospital for the treatment of the activists and their treatment have started.     Activists who were brought to hospital in handcuffs, were taken to hospital through the morgue door. The prisoners who were not allowed to contact their relatives on their way in, were beaten by the soldiers when they were being taken inside. The soldiers who battered the prisoners also made a nationalist sign to their families who had to witness those moments.     On the other hand, 32 prisoners who have been on hunger strike since 23 March in Batman M Type Closed Prison, have not yet started their treatment.     It was learned that the prisoners had petitioned the prison administration for treatment but their treatment requests had not been accepted until now. PM's,lawyers and Batman Bar Association executives tried to contact the prison authorities for the treatment of detainees until late last night. But the prisoners could not be referred to the hospital because the prison prosecutors couldn't be reached.
