Taşkın was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months on October 10, 2018 with the accusation of “terrorist propaganda” and “aiding and abetting a terrorist organisation without being a member.” Our reporter Taşkın was released by the Court of Appeal with a scheduling order after her attorney objected the decision on January 17, 2019.   Taşkın who stated that she is trying to do her best by not compromising from ethics, said: "They are telling us that we can only survive in the main stream media. We know what opponent journalists have been through. Those who think they can prevent us from being journalists by arresting us should know that, journalism does not have boundries or a need for a space. It can be done anywhere as long as there is a violation of rights and a story to tell. I did my job when I was incarcerated and continued when I was released. I am honoured to do this sacred job. I will continue doing my job whatever the final decision is.I will be there on May 15 to defend journalism.     Taşkın made a call to her colleagues and said: "We can get through these dark times with the strength solidarity gives us. In this context, it means a lot that our colleagues and Journalist unions to stand with us."
