'On hunger strike for 180 days in Ramadan' 2019-05-11 10:25:16 HAKKARİ - Makbule Aşkan whose husband Abdurrahman Aşkan is on hunger strike in prison, said 'We have to relate with the hunger strikers more since we are in Ramadan', because thousands of people is are hunger strike for 180 days in prison.  Abdurrahman Aşkan who is being kept in Patnos Type L Prison is on hunger strike demanding the end of the isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan. Aşkan who is on hunger strike since March 1, is a person who spent almost all his life in prisons under torture.   26 YEARS OF MARRIAGE WAITING IN FRONT OF PRISON GATES     26 years of his wife Makbule Aşkan, was spent waiting at the prison gates. Makbule Aşkan who stated that she knows her husband is right and that she will be with him all the time, said: "Our house is being raided since the 90's. While every raid turns to torture, my husband was taken under custody and tortured numerous times. He lost his toes due to the torture."     Akşan who drew attention to the fact that thousands of people are on hunger strike and 30 people started a death fast in prisons, said: "My husband told me that he was doing fine when he last call me. He told me that their morale s high but they have lost a lot of weight. My husband who stated that the first group that started the hunger strike on December 26 are critical, made a call. He told me that those who are in prisons are fulfilling their responsibility and that what's important at this point is the stance of the people outside. He saluted the resistance of the mothers. He said mothers are the answer to this silence."     Aşkan,, who stated that the people who are fasting for 15-16 hours a day in Ramadan should try to understand those who are hungry for 180 days.   Aşkan said: "We have to relate more with the people who laid their bodies to hunger in Ramadan."
