Syrian Family: We work 12 hours for 48 Liras 2019-02-12 11:07:41 ADANA- Dexfak Family, one of thousands of agricultural labourers in Çukurova, works 12 hours under heavy harsh conditions, and earns 48 liras per diem. Hamid Dexfak who stated that living in a tent is difficult, said 'We have to do this in order to survive'. According to the Ministry of Interior General Directorate of Migration Management, 150 thousand 108 Syrian refugees live in Adana, many of them work in agriculture, textile, construction and recycling sector. Refugees are trying to live in tent cities or rent unhealthy homes. Agricultural workers staying in makeshift tents live a life without hygiene. Dexfak family, who took shelter in Karagöçer Village of Karataş District of Adana Province, 5 years ago, lives in a tent.     Dexfak Family from Abysinnia migrated to Syria, Rakka 30 years ago due to poverty. Dexfak family who migrated again because of DAİŞ invasion for the second time came to Turkey 2 years ago by foot.The family works in the fields for ill pay tries to survive. 3 of the 8 people family work from dawn to dusk for 48 liras.The Dexfak family who does not get any help from the government stated that they do not want to go back to Syria because of the ongoing war.   Hamid Dexfak who stated that he was a truck driver back in Syria, said they led a comfortable life back in Rakka. Hamid Dexfak who who stated their home was bombed, said it would not be the same even if they went back.     Dexfak who stated tendure the life in tents said: "It is hard to work in the field. I have a 15 yead old handicapped child.He works in the field as well.The tent is cold, we are trying to get warm with the stove. We all stay in the same tent, the 8 of us.We are trying to survive.
