Mother who lost her son in a hunger strike: We don't want no other deaths 2019-02-11 10:45:26 İZMİR- Senem Kayacı, mother of Hüseyin Kayacı who lost his life in the death fasts in 2001 on the 170th day, said Leyla Güven's demand must be met. Kayacı said: 'I have lost Hüseyin. I don't want anyone else to lose their children.' The hunger strike initiated by Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair and People's Democratic Party (HDP) Hakkari Deputy Leyla Güven who demands the termination of the isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan is continuing in its 96th day. The hunger strike of the political prisoners in different prisons is in their 58th day.   While there are public awareness calls from all walks of life, Senem Kayacı who lost her son in a hunger strike emphasized that we should not let anyone else die.   Kayacı who was hospitalized on the 153rd day of the hunger strike, was not able to be saved despite all efforts and lost his life on the 170th day of his hunger strike.Senem Kayacı who stated that her pain never faded away even though 19 years have passed, said the oppression of the state never ended until that day even though their son have died. The family who had to move away from their home because of the oppression, said their son was 80 kilos when he was imprisoned and when they recieved his body, he was 40 kilos.   The remaining  children of the family is in prison as well. Their daughter Melahat is in prison for 9 years now and their sonUğur  is in prison for 2 years now.   Kayacı who drew attention to the hunger strike of Leyla Güven, said: "Her demand as a deputy and a woman must be met. I never forget the pain of not being able to hold my son for the last time, not being able to make a hot soup for him. There are hundreds of mothers whose son's are in prison and on hunger strike. I have lost my Hüseyin. Don't let other mothers lose their children."
