Message from prisoner on hunger strike: It is not the time to be silent 2019-02-08 13:24:20 DİYARBAKIR- Cüneyt Aslan who have been on a hunger strike for 55 days in Diyarbakır Type D Prison,stating that the government is aiming to adjust them to this aggravated isolation, said: "People need to understand isolation and resist against it. This is not the time to be silent." The hunger strike initiated by Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair and People's Democratic Party (HDP) Hakkari Deputy Leyla Güven is contiuing on its 93rd day. More than 291 political prisoners from different prisons are continuing their hunger strike on its 55th day. Cüneyt Aslan, a prisoner in Diyarbakır Type D Prison who have been on a hunger strike since December 16, 2018, repeated their demands and stated that are determined to continue the hunger strike in a phone call he made with his family. Aslan who have been in prison since 2016, drew attention to the purpose of their action.   Aslan who stated that they are contiuing the hunger strike they started with 4 other prisoners on December 16 on its 54th day, said: "Firstly, we salut all those on hunger strike. Our demand is the termination of the isolation on our leader Abdullah Öcalan.This isolation can not be explained with no conscience, principle or humanity.We are continuing our strike with determination to break this isolation. İsolation is unaccaptable. They are trying to adjust us to this isolation. They are trying to make it look normal and ordinary. We have never accepted this nor will we. We will resist against isolation. Everyone needs to understand the isolation and resist against it. This is not the time to be silent.We will succeed saying 'To live is to resist' just like our pioneers did."
