Condemnation Imrali isolation at TUHAY-DER congress 2023-06-03 15:40:10 VAN – At the congress of TUHAY-DER in Van, the Imrali isolation was condemned and it was pointed out that the isolation has spread to the whole society.   Association for Assistance with Families of Prisoners in Van (TUHAY-DER) held its 3rd Ordinary Congress with the motto "We will break the isolation with the will of a free society". Many people attended the congress held in a wedding hall in the city.   'IMRALI ISOLATION HAS BEEN SYSTEMATIZED'   After the council was formed, the congress started after a moment of silence for those who lost their lives in the struggle for freedom and democracy. The solidarity message sent by ÖHD Co-Chair Ekin Yeter at the congress was read by ÖHD Wan Branch Co-Chair Mehtap Işık. The message condemned the ongoing isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan.   Stating that the Imrali isolation system has become systematized, Işık said: “The Imrali isolation, which has become systematic, has spread to all living spaces. Isolation is felt most deeply in all segments of society, especially in prisons. Although we, as ÖHD and 700 lawyers, made all official applications regarding the isolation, we did not receive any response from the fascist blocs. We invite all bar associations, human rights defenders and lawyers to draw attention to this isolation.   BARAN: THEY CAN'T DESTROY KURDISH GAINS EASILY   Speaking afterwards, MED TUHAD-FED Co-Chair Zeki Baran touched upon the Imrali isolation. Baran said: "The isolation started from prisons and spread to all Kurdish gains. These are the ones who have sworn to destroy the gains of the Kurdish people. But they should not forget that against those who have sworn to destroy these gains, there are young people and their families who have resisted and fought against this system in the dungeons for more than 30 years. Nobody should think that they will destroy Kurdish gains so easily. The sons of these people, who have resisted and fought in prison for 30 years, will not allow anyone to pass."   Edibe Babur and Çetin Uyar were elected as new co-chairs in the elections held after the activity and cost report was read.
