Erdoğan speaks of 'judicial reform': 415 citizens detained 2020-11-28 13:21:37 NEWS CENTER - At least 415 people were detained, 11 of them were arrested in the operations against the opposition, especially the HDP, following the "reform" statement by AKP Chairman Tayyip Erdogan. After his son-in-law, Berat Albayrak, who resigned from the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, AKP Chairman Tayyip Erdogan made a statement and announced that there will be a 'reform' in economy and judiciary, then came mass detentions and arrests. 17 days after the statement, 415 citizens were detained in 18 cities. 11 were arrested. There are still people being detained, mostly affiliated with the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP).   155 CITIZENS DETAINED IN DIYARBAKIR AND SURROUNDING PROVINCES   155 people have been detained in Diyarbakır, Batman, Bingöl, Dersim and Siirt since 11 November, while 7 of them have been arrested.   November 16: Sur Municipality Co-Mayor Cemal Özdemir, who was dismissed as part of an investigation carried out by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, along with 11 people, was arrested.   November 20: There were arrests within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the Democratic Society Congress (DTK). Arrest warrants were issued for 101 names, including lawyers and journalists.   November 23: 5 out of 75 people who were arrested as a result of the investigation against DTK by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.   November 24: A citizen called Suna Balta who was insulted in front of HDP Diyarbakır Provincial building, was detained as she left the building and released a while later.   November 27: Aziz Yağmur, Mehmet Yalçın, Sabri Özdemir, Ercan Kaysı and Agit Kaçar, members of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Architects Diyarbakır Branch, were detained. On the same day, 15 people were detained in house raids in the city center and its neighboring provinces within the scope of the investigation carried out by the Batman Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Cemile Altan, a member of the Provincial Council, was also detained in Siirt.   25 DETENTIONED IN VAN AND SURROUNDING PROVINCES   25 people were detained in Van, Erzurum and Bitlis, 2 of them were arrested. Mesopotamia Agency (MA) reporter Dindar Karataş was also arrested on 26 November for his journalistic activities and news.   November 12: 2 people detained in the district of Horasan in Erzurum were arrested.   November 16: 10 people were detained in Özalp district of Van.   November 24: 5 people were detained in house raids in Bitlis.   November 27: 9 people were detained in house raids in Van   POLITICIANS, LAWYERS, WORKERS ...   171 citizens including lawyers, politicians and workers protesting for their right in İstanbul, Kocaeli and Bursa were detained.   November 18: The houses of HDP and Association for Solidarity with Detainees Families (TUAY-DER) executives were raided in Istanbul. Sultanbeyli. HDP Sultanbeyli District Co-chair Alamettin Demir and TUAY-DER executives Edip İrverdi and Metin İbik, Hikmet Akdemir, Kenan Erdemir and Abidin Kaplan were detained in the raid.    November 20: 6 people were detained in house raids in Yıldırım district of Bursa.   On the same day, the house where Attorney Aytaç Ünsal, who was on death fast for more than 200 days with the demand of a fair trial, was treated in Küçükarmutlu Neighborhood of Sarıyer district was raided. 5 people were detained in the raid on 30 different addresses within the framework of the operation.   November 22: 22 people were detained in the demonstration HDP İstanbul Provincial Organization organized to protest the operation against the DTK, including provincial Co-Chairs Erdal Avcı and Elif Bulut.   109 WORKERS DETAINED   November 24: The workers fired without compensation from Systemair, HSK, Özer Electricity and Baldur factories for being members of United Metal Workers Union (Birleşik Metal-İş), were stopped at Gebze while marching to Ankara. 109 workers were detained.   November 25:  Lawyers Cahit Kırkazak, İbrahim Korhan and Mehmet Deniz Büyük were detained in home raids in Bursa at dawn. The lawyers were released days later.   November 26: Simultaneous operations were carried out by the police in 15 districts of Istanbul. 20 of the 26 people who had a warrant against them were detained.   25 DETAINED ON MARDIN AND ŞIRNAK   During this period, 11 people were detained in Mardin. On November 27, politicians of HDP and BDP were detained in Mardin's Kızıltepe, Mazıdağı and Savur districts in the operation carried out simultaneously in many provinces. One of the 14 people detained in Şırnak was arrested.   15 DETAINED IN MERSIN, ADANA AND ANTALYA   15 people were detained in Adana, Mersin and Antalya. Bayram Ardık was arrested in Antalya. While the persons named Bedran Etiz, Xabat Aslan, Şahin İlhan, Civan Tamur, Fatma Çetinkaya and Agit Işık were detained in Mersin, their procedures at the police continue. In Adana, 8 people were released with judicial control measures.   24 DETENTIONS IN ANKARA AND IZMIR   7 people in Ankara and 17 people in Izmir were detained in operations carried out in many provinces yesterday. Among those detained there is a 73-year-old citizen named Mahmut Altan.   5 JOURNALISTS WERE DETAINED   Journalists also got their share in this process. Mesopotamia Agency Van Reporter Dindar Karataş was arrested, Ankara reporter Hakan Yalçın is still in custody. Jin news editor Roza Metina was detained and released.
