1 year 3 months prison sentence for Journalist Temizkan 2020-10-22 12:51:46   İSTANBUL- Journalist Sabiha Temizkan was sentenced to 1 year and 3 months in prison on the grounds of her social media activity. The court did not delay the sentence.   The final hearing of the case against journalist Sabiha Temizkan with the accusation of "propagandizing a terrorist organization" on grounds of a Twitter post from 2014 was held at the Istanbul 35th High Criminal Court in Çağlayan.   Making her defence, Temizkan said she made her defence before and she shared the news they made while ISIS was carrying out massacres. Underlining that the social media post was a news article, Temizkan demanded her acquittal.   Speaking after Temizkan, Attorney Veysel Ok told that his client is a journalist and said: "Press can write about anything. The duty of a journalist is not to reflect the vision of the government. If you don't like what they write, you don't read it. But you can't punish the journalist for writing it.    Announcing its decision after the defense, the court board sentenced Temizkan to 1 year and 3 months in prison for 'propagandizing a terrorist organization'. While the court did not delay the sentence, it did not apply any reduction.
