HDP met with embassy representatives of 26 EU member states 2020-09-22 14:39:18   ANKARA - Meeting with the embassy represantatives of 28 EU member states hosted by European Union Turkey Delegation online, HDP drew attention to the isolation policy against PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and a peaceful and democratic solution to the Kurdish question.   Peoples's Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair Pervin Buldan, Party spokesperson Ebru Günay, Foreign Relations Commission Co-Spokesperson Feleknas Uca and Hişyar Özsöy, Commission member Nazmi Gür had an online meeting with the embassy representatives of 26 EU member states. According to the information shared by the HDP Press Office, the special agenda of the meeting was EU - Turkey relationship, the tension at the East Mediterrenaen, the unlawful isolation policies against PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan in terms of a peaceful and democratic solution to the Kurdish question and the recent reports of CPT regarding the issue.   KURDISH QUESTION   It was stated that HDP Co-Chair Pervin Buldan drew attention to the increasingly authoritarian regime in Turkey and the obligation of the EU member states to assume a consistent approach in the face of it, and the need for the rule of law and democracy parameters should be determinant in EU - Turkey relationship. Buldan also explained that the isolation is a great obsticle in front of the solutionlessness of the Kurdish issue and in that context, the society must be sensitive to the isolation in İmralı and the violations of rights in prisons as the CPT report underlines.   ISOLATION   Stating that the CPT report revealed the very bad conditions in İmralı and all other prisons in Turkey, HDP Spokesperson Ebru Günay underlined that the isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan must be terminated immediately. It was stated that Güney demanded the EU and the member states must follow Turkey closely on fulfilling the demands in the CPT report.
