Journalist Oruç to remain in prison 2020-09-21 11:11:15 AĞRI - It was decided that the jailed journalist Oruç to remain in prison at the second hearing of the trial against him.    The second hearing of the case against journalisy Oruç and Muhammet İkram Müftüoğlu and HDP Doğubayazıt District Co-Chair Abdullah Ekelek who were accused of aiding Oruç was held at Ağrı 2nd High Criminal Court. İkram Müftüoğlu and HDP Doğubayazıt District Co-Chair Abdullah Ekelek were released at the first hearing. Oruç has been held in Patnos Type L Prison since December 2019. Oruç attended the hearing via Audio Visual and Information System (SEGBİS) from Patnos Prison. Oruç's lawyer Erhan Çiftçiler and his lawyer Erselam Aktan, the Media and Legal Studies Association (MLSA), were also present at the hearing.   Press workers were not allowed to follow the hearing due to the coronavirus (Kovid-19) outbreak.   Oruç, who made his defense at the hearing, repeated his previous statements and pointed out that he was faced with a vital risk due to the epidemic. Oruç noted that he is not affiliated with any organization.   The court board decided to continue the detention of Oruç and adjourned the hearing to 9 November.   The court, on the other hand, lifted the judicial control measures against those who were tried without arrest.
