'Öcalan is the key to peace' 2020-09-21 11:05:48 VAN - Drawing attention to the social influence of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, HDP Van Provincial Co-chair Ökkeş Kava called for a joint struggle against the isolation, saying "A word of Mr. Öcalan will bring peace." PKK leader Abdullah Ocalan was brought to Turkey in February 15, 1999 from Syria and has been kept in İmralı prison Island ever since. Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Van Provincial Co-chair Ökkeş Kava and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Van Provincial Co-chair Çetin Uyar stated that the isolation is the biggest obstacle to social peace and called for an immediate end to the isolation.   HDP Provincial Co-chair Ökkeş Kava pointed out that all the problems in the country are directly related with the isolation, and reminded the dialogue process between Öcalan and the state between 2013 and 2015. Stating that there were no deaths as Öcalan shared his ideas with the public during the dialogue process, he also noted that the economy, which is in a deep crisis today, has recovered.   SOCIAL PEACE   Stating that social peace was also achieved during the dialogue process, Kava said, “Nobody was killed because they spoke Kurdish, their mother tongues. Or listened to a Kurdish song. With the continuation of the isolation war, conflict, economic chaos and social unrest resurfaced.   CHAOS AND WAR   Stressing that isolation is reflected in all segments of society, Kava said, "This brings chaos and war with it. A society that has been living together for centuries is in an enemy to each other. Young people are being murdered just because they sing or listen to Kurdish songs.   SOCIAL IMPACT OF ÖCALAN   Drawing attention to Öcalan's social impact, Kava said, "This lawlessness against Mr. Öcalan must come to an end. Even a word from him is respected in both Turkey and in the Middle East. That can bring peace. Öcalan has an impact on everyone, not only the Kurds."   DBP Provincial Co-chair Çeyin Uyar said: "The isolation imposed on Öcalan is reflected in the public. Conflict after the end of the peace process, the bad course of the economy and the violations of rights are linked to the isolation. The AKP government is trying to isolate the whole society. He is trying to lower the voices of the opponents. All opponents should speak up against the isolation. In order for the country to truly democratize, the isolation imposed upon Mr. Öcalan must be lifted and the dialogue process must be initiated. This is important for all peoples."
