Turkey's Religious Affairs: Hagia Sophia will be appointed two imams 2020-07-12 17:59:34   NEWS CENTER - The head of Turkey’s Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet), Ali Erbaş announced that 2 imams and 4 muezzins will be appointed to Hagia Sophia.   Following the 10th Chamber of the Council of State, Turkey’s highest administrative court paving the way for the move on converting İstanbul's Hagia Sophia from a museum into a mosque after it ruled unanimously on Friday to annul a 1934 cabinet decree that stripped the 1,500-year-old building of its religious status, Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan declared, administration of the building is to be turned over to the country's religious authority, the Diyanet.    Ali Erbaş, the head of Turkey’s Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) shared a new announcement regarding the iconic landmark İstanbul. Reminding that Hagia Sophia opens for "5 times prayer" on July 24, Erbaş announced that HAgia Sophia will be appointed 2 imams and 4 muezzins for prayers.
